After having previously discussed this issue with the factory, regarding 4566TSW's, I decided to continue to use the stock spring. (We had to use the RA45TP +P for a while, too, when the standard pressure loads weren't available or being shipped at one point.) It might require spring replacement sooner, of course, depending on what's observed during periodic inspection and during range sessions. A number of shooters realized a difference in felt recoil between the standard pressure and +P T-series loads. Some more than others.
I'd definitely replace the springs sooner in the alloy 4513TSW, or a 4563TSW, I suppose, but I do that anyway.
Just my thoughts. The 4506/66's were supposedly built around using a full power 230gr bullet weight, you know. The factory offers a reduced power "wadcutter" recoil spring for the 4506's for lower powered target loads.
If you can afford to buy & shoot a few thousand rounds of RA45TP, you can probably easily afford a new stock recoil spring every few cases or so.
They're your guns, though. Call and ask one of the techs at S&W about it.
I'd also consider that not all .45 +P ammunition may be alike. I'd stick to using something made by one of the major American ammo companies who have acquired experience in making a lot of ammunition for LE/Gov users.
