pin inside rebound slide, N & X frame?
What is the purpose of the pin inside the rebound slide on X and N frames? That pin is not in my K frames.

Pin
The pin inside the rebound slide controls reward movement of the trigger. Same as a trigger stop.

As Art stated, it's the trigger stop. It's also VERY dependent on orientation as I found out when I did an action job on my 610. Put it in backwards and during dry fire testing found that the trigger will lock up completely when the gun was held in certain orientations. Flipped it end for end and the gun worked perfectly.
I've also found a hidden benefit to this pin, it reduces the buckling of the rebound spring within the bore of the slide. As a result my 610 has a double action trigger pull so smooth that it's difficult to "stage", just the way I like my DA trigger. At some point I plan on installing these pins in my K and L frames.

Ran across the pin today for the first time on a new to me 28 no dash. If you are going to put them in K and L frames, do you have pin lengths or will that be the same as the N frame? I also noticed one end was flat and the other was domed. I put the flat end in first??? Seems to function.
thanks,
Stu

Domed end fits inside first. Flat end (that is trimmed and fit) will get pressed on the rebound stud as the trigger gets pressed.
A domed end won't work very well on a round stud....

Since the 28 is functioning just fine, I pulled the side plate to see if my memory was functioning fine. BLAHHHH. I had put the pin in domed side into the rebound slide and flat to the pin. So, my mechanical skills are just where they need to be, I need a new mind!
