Default S&W hammers?

I've been looking to buy either a factory bobbed hammer or a regular for a DIY job for my Mod. 36, but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Another forum member indicated they were backordered for months in most places.

What's going on?

They are a fitted part, so SW may not be shipping them to general retail outlets. Since they are MIM, they should be able to crank them out like popcorn.

If you are referring to an older M36 chief special I would procure a replacement hammer and cut that one instead of cutting the original. Once you cut it there's no going back. You might try Gun Parts (Numrich Arms - West Hurley, NY), Brownells, Jack First, or a few of the other parts guys.

If this is an MIM part, sorry I don't have much info on those as I do not own any MIM guns.

Good luck,
