Default Paint Removal

I have a pre owned 25 dash something mountain gun in 45 colt on lay a way at my local fun shop. At some time in its short life someone did a really poor job of painting both the front & rear sights with what I believe is enamel paint.
What is the best way to remove this paint with the least possible damage to the bluing? I’d like to try the least aggressive method first.

I also have a 66 no dash that someone did the same thing to the front sight, just behind the red ramp insert. With this being a stainless gun, what would be the best way to remove the paint from this gun as well?

Thanks

Vic

Nail Polish remover usually takes all that off with a little work.

+1 on the nail polish remover but use the non acetone type.

Regular bore cleaner will take off most enamel paint if it's not too thick. Which is why I find painting front sights with something like Testors model paint is a waste of time. The first time you clean the gun your new paint disapears.
You could also try Birchwood Casey GunScrubber but keep it away from the red ramp insert (maybe on a Q-tip or something like that).

I used regular paint remover gel to strip the finish off a CZ-82 I was refinishing. Worled like a champ. Might be a bit aggressive for your case. Don't know how it would affect bluing.
