Dunno about the DVD. Never watched one.

I have a number of armorer manuals received from classes over the years.

Are you wanting to remove the ambi assembly and replace it with a standard left-side only assembly?

If so, you'll have to check the existing sear release lever for how it fits and functions with the new single lever assembly. (The top of the sear release lever indexes off the bottom of the cylindrical portion of the manual safety assembly's body during rotation of the assembly when the lever is depressed, which controls the engagement of the lever's foot against the nose of the sear during decocking.)

This used to be done by slowly functioning the decocker and eyeballing it when the hammer falls, comparing it to the position of lever at the moment of the hammer being decocked, but nowadays it's done with the use of 3 numbered metal drill bits, using the non-cutting end of the bits as Go/No-Go gauges to check the decocking timing. If the timing isn't within recommended tolerance a new sear release lever has to be fit (filed), which is a simple enough task once learned, but probably not the first couple (or more) times when someone is learning how to do it.

Yes sir, that's exactly what I'm wanting to do. Along with replacing any worn parts or springs. I have a DVD on the way, but I doubt it will go into that much detail, or things as critical as the timing you're describing. There is a warranty center nearby, that also advertises general gunsmithing services. Perhaps I'll give them a call on replacing the de-cocker on my recently acquired 3913. I've dated it as 90-91, and would like to bring it up to speed.
Thanks for the valuable info Fastbolt, I always read your posts with great interest and look forward to hearing from you again.
Thanks,
Randall
