Default Ultrasonic cylinder cleaning

While looking over a newly acquired K-22 I found substantial deposits of crud in the cylinder recesses and under the extractor. I was able to get most of it out with some Q-Tips but it made me think how much easier it would be to just pop the entire assembly into my ultrasonic cleaner. Any reason not to as long as I take care not to let the parts contact the basket and remove bluing and lube afterwards?

Are alloy cylinders safe in an ultrasonic bath?

thanks, Rob

I do this routinely, but I disassemble the extractor first so that I can dry and lube it properly afterwards. I have done titanium, stainless, and blued cylinders.

Good deal, do you have to suspend the cylinder in the liquid so it doesn't touch the metal basket? And if you don't mind, what liquid do you use?

My bath came with a perforated lexan sheet to put in the bottom of the wire tray so that the parts don't touch the bottom of it. This is the concentrate that I use in mine...
