Default Break Free Powder Blast & Polymer Frame

Has anyone besides myself ever used Break Free Powder Blast to clean their Ruger polymer framed guns?

I was tired of cleaning the lead out of two gun barrels (R1 1911 & P345) and decided to try finishing up the guts of the P345 with a little Break Free. It did a wonderful job of cleaning, however, the frame turned white in the areas that Break Free got on it.

I did not have it on the frame more than 30-45 seconds before I wiped it away. I wiped it down with Remoil and it looked fine for a few minutes before turning white again.

Does anyone know of a product to return the finish to its natural color or have I ruined it?

Thanks in advance.

They do make a polymer safe Break Free Powder Blast. That is what I use on my plastic gun parts. I use the regular on metal parts. I get the white residue on my metal items..can't remember if it shows up on the plastic stuff. It is always just left behind stuff from the oil/lubricant though, and more Break Free removes it. Try more Break Free or use some of your oil/lube, RemOil, on a Q-tip and try to remove it...I'll bet it comes right off. But, I've never used the non polymer stuff on my polymer sooooo, best of luck.

Side note...I too use RemOil on a lot of my stuff...I'll bet it's the left over Teflon that is in RemOil that you and I both see as white stuff.
