I picked up an older Model 17 with a target trigger. I'd like a standard, smooth one installed. Is it the same as any other K-frame trigger, or is the rimfire-version different in some way? Mine has the older forged trigger, not the newer MIM one, if it makes a difference.
All short action k, L and N frame triggers interchange including MIM triggers. Short Action includes all post WWII revolvers except for some made form left over parts shortly after WWII.
They're a bit wider than your .265" serrated tigger but one of the smooth "combat" triggers introduced with the 586 might make you happy. They're forged and case colored which matches your hammer. Usually they drop right in.
Wider than what I have? Wow, my target trigger is already pretty wide. I was looking for something thinner that doesn't flare out inside the trigger guard.
My mistake. I was thinking you wanted to replace a serrated service trigger. Common L frame smooth triggers fall in between the .400" target trigger and .265" service trigger widths.
