Default mod 909

guy, just bought a model 909, 9mm. seems to have been fired very very little. the gun has a plastic recoil guide rod, and the tip,(the end that fits into the frame) is "spring loaded". i'm told this is the same gun as the 3904/3906. i'd like to get a steel recoil guide rod like the ones on the 3904/3906 but i'm not sure if it is the same thing. haven't talked to s&w yet. thought i'd post here to see if anyone has any ideas.

The 909/910 were/are vaue line pistols. That is, there were several "non-critical" parts made from some form of what we'd call plastic. There were also some machining cuts left off that the more expensive pistols had for style purposes.

I'd expect that, if the barrel is 4 inch, that the recoil spring guide for the 3904/06 would work. I'd also consider shopping around for a metal disconnector at the same time.
