Default Model 52 Mag issue

Hello All,

I have a Model 52. When I fitst got it, the gun didn't fire without a mag inserted, now it does. How do you fix that?

Steve

The mag disconnect is broken. It is located under the rear sight. Remove the rear sight but be careful that the spring doesn’t fly out. I don’t know how it would break but anything is possible I guess.

John,

I have removed the rear sight to mount an aimtech. There is nothing underneath it.

You lost the spring and plunger when you removed the sight.

RGPM1A - have removed/replaced several S&W 41 5.5" rear sites (old origonal style) and one 52 rear - am confused by the spring you speak of???? That style rear site is an integeral site unlike the 5 & 7 3/8" rear sites. It slides in/out as a unit and is locked in by a set screw.

I stand corrected on the 52 site removal - forgot about the ejector depressor plunger and spring - it was probably 35 - 40 years ago and as I remember it was a little trouble replacing rear site.

On the lockout - possibly crud not allowing movement?
