Default S&W 629 Rear Sight Exploded View

Just changed out the rear sight system with a set of night sights. They refer to a spring and detent spring..haven't seen them nor were they with the new sight system ??? Could use a bit of advice ASAP.

Thanks

The spring and detent are located inside the rear of the sight housing, it's what accomplishes the "click stops" in the windage screw. You can't get to them unless you "break" the windage adjustment and remove the sight blade. You don't want to do this unless you need to replace the blade. If you do need to remove it, do it inside a clear plastic bag, as the spring and detent are so tiny they will fly off to places never to be seen again.

The spring and plunger are in a hole cross drilled (blind) in the head of the windage screw. They create the clicks you feel turning the windage screw, aside from holding your settings. H Richard's right on about them launching themselves into never never land if you're not carefull during disassembly.

Here's an exploded view of the S&W rear sight.
The spring and plunger are parts number 11 and 12.
