Default HELP W/MIM Trigger and Hand Spring

Took apart my 442 to clean it, full of grease and powder residue.

This is a MIM gun DATXXXX. Long story short, dropped the trigger with the hand attached, on a concrete floor.

The hand seperated from the trigger, hand spring no where in sight. Too old to spend the rest of my life searching for it.

Is the part in Brownells catalog #940-000-569AD, Smith#227510000, MIM Trigger Hand Spring, the correct spring?

If so I will order a couple. If not what is the correct part #?

ANY TIPS on how to install this spring on the hand and inside the trigger.

Appears to be quite different from older S&W design, which I have some experience with. Any special tools needed?

Thanks for your much needed help!!!!!!!!!!

Just looked at the schematic for this MIM trigger, hand and spring. There appears to be another pin that goes in the front of the trigger.

I now Know I'm going to need a short tutorial on this.

What does the spring go on? Which stud on the hand.

Sorry to be so slow on this as all my other Smiths are pre MIM and don't have the same trigger-hand assembly. This 442 is/was my BUG.

Thank You Bullseye! If I'm reading the schematic correctly the spring rests on a pin the forward part of the trigger (short end) and (the long end )on the pin that is connected to the hand. If I am viewing this correctly Part#28 in the schematic is a pin. If so, do you know or have the nomenclature for that pin, as I seem to be missing that piece of metal, and will have to order one along with the spring.

The spring doesn't set on a pin on the MIM trigger it is built in and the short end goes in first and the coil sets in a round groove in the trigger.

Thanks Bullseye!

My nearest Gunsmith is almost 300 miles away in one direction and 185 miles in the other.

Excellent video. Thanks, A little late for the OP but certainly will help others with those pesky little springs!
