Which Rear Sight Blade?
Hello.
I have recently purchased a Lew Horton 24-3 .44 special. It is a 3 inch barrel. I need to replace the rear sight blade as the original one is damaged. Could someone tell me the correct height blade for this? Thanks.

Run the sight all the way to the left or right and measure the height of the blade with a micrometer or dial caliper. It is probably a .160

Yours might be a 0.160", but S&W makes other height blades (higher and lower) in case your gun doesn't shoot where you want it to. Check Brownell's on-line to see the choices.
Remember, you'll need a new windage nut and staking tool to do the job right.

You can buy them as a kit complete with new windage screw and nut + the blade.
S&W rear sight blade kit
Since you are going to replace, you can just go ahead and break the screw and remove the blade to measure.

S&W makes differing height blades to match diferent barrel lengths. And, also so you can tune your sight picture to your particular load and hold (6 o'clock or center hold for the old FBI target).

I placed an order with S&W for a .146 sight blade but it is backordered and won't ship for 4 to 6 weeks. MidwayUSA and Brownells are also both backordered. Anyone know any other sources of S&W sight blades or kits?
I went ahead and ordered a .160 blade and will see if that works. Thanks.
