Hi, I have a 625 Jm, which is a round butt gun. The grips (1 piece) keep loosening, on the gun. I do not want to over tighten, and break them. Is there an easy fix? Had a bad experience with lock tite once, and won't do that again!
Square butt grips that I have, seem to fit it. Is there any down side to using them? Thanks, Bob
A few wears ago the weather was keeping me indoors and I was bored so I tried a little grip project. I took a pair of shooter grade N frame square butt targets and a round butt N frame 657 and put them together. I put clear packing tape on the inside of the grips where they stuck out past the frame. I had put a piece of scotch tape on the rear of the grip frame. I cut a pin from my wife's sewing supplies just a little longer than the width of the grip frame and wedged it in between the grips where they hung out past the frame. I then filled the cavity created with 5 min. Epoxy. As the epoxy cured I trimmed the stuff with a razor blade. After it totally set I hit it with a small file till it fit really well then brushed a little touch up paint on it and you really had to look hard to see the "plug" that I'd made. The straight pin imbedded in it kept it in place nicely. I have since purchased more than one pair of Altamont round to square grips but my home brew adaptor keeps on working just fine.
The square butt grips that I have cover the entire frame butt, so no patching is needed. I just wonder if they would break (grips) because they are not making complete metal contact. Bob
