Ultrasonic cleaner
I'm looking at buying an ultrasonic cleaner. I want one that will clean a 6" revolver. Has anyone used or have or know about this one? Amazon.com: Commercial Grade Kendal 6 Liters 380 Watts HEATED ULTRASONIC CLEANER: Home & Garden
Any suggestions?

I do not have that particular model, but I have a smaller 'Prosonix' brand and can tell you that while it's okay for brass, it is not large enough to put a handgun in for cleaning. It's about 9.5" x 5" x 5". The one that you are looking at is larger than that so it should fit a handgun if that's what you're looking to do with it besides cleaning brass.
As a brass cleaner, it works fine, not as shiny as I like them though so I dry the cases and put them in the vibrator for a little while to brighten them up. Okay so I like shiny....ooooowwww....SHINY!!!!
But the primer pockets are much cleaner and it rids the cases of fouling inside and out rather well.
I have never tried it for cleaning a gun though.

I didn't, and should have, specified I want one that will clean a 6" revolver.

It's not necessary to have a cleaner that you can submerge the entire gun in.
You can clean it by putting half the gun at a time in the tank, then turn it around to clean the barrel end.
Note that ultrasonic cleaners will have little effect on leading and none at all on copper fouling unless you use a cleaner solution like bore solvents that attack copper fouling. For that reason, ultrasonic cleaning of the barrel may not even be of any real benefit.

I don't care about the bore but sure would like to clean the crud that builds up in (and around) the gap between the barrel and top strap and the underside of the top strap.

That looks of similar size to mine. I love it and fully agree that the drain is critical. Get a 90 degree turn down so you can just hand the drain over the end of the table and run the solution through a coffee filter into the bottle.
I swear by mine and love it. Things come out "surgically" clean. It is astounding how clean the gun comes out of the solution.
I use mpro7 full strength and then L&R gun oil as my post cleaning dip in oil. Works great!

Thx. Any problem damaging the finish setting the gun in a stainless basket in the ultrasonic cleaner?

Usually not unless you do it a LOT and do it for years. The gun is heavy enough that it won't move around much from the vibration.
If it bothers you, just get some solvent-proof plastic netting to lay on the bottom of the basket.
Also, the ultrasonics will remove painted sight markings like white outline rear sights. A solvent that attacks the paint will do it very quickly, other solvents will still remove the paint sooner or later.

No white outline sights (or any other paint) so that's not an issue. Seems I now have one more thing to buy... It will be weird having a really clean gun.
edit: ultrasonic cleaner is on the way. Now to fuss over cleaning solutions. Is any of the bought stuff (usually somewhat expensive) actually better than a mix of kerosene and dexron atf?

Of the available cleaners, I recommend Cylinder & Slide Shop's "Dunk-kit".
This is a cleaner that cleans the gun, and leaves a lubricant on everything.
This eliminates having to use a rinse, then having to worry about getting a film of lube in all the internal areas to prevent rust.
I'd still use a standard lubricant on the key areas.
