Model 25-2 FTF in DA mode

I took my new to me 25-2 to the range today just to see how it functioned. SA was perfect with cloverleaf groups at 7 yards. When I tried rapid fire in DA had to do double strikes on half the cylinder. Action had been "tuned" by previous owner and is very smooth. I did not have any moon clips, which presented no problems in SA. Ammo used was 185gr competition ammo from Michigan Ammo which are rated very highly. I would like to find out the cause of the FTFs. Would it be a function of the mainspring? Would it be a function of the trigger return spring? If it's the mainspring can I try to adjust it with the screw in the grip frame, and if so turn it in or out? What is the OEM weight for the trigger return spring? Should I try a new Wolff mainspring? Thanks for your suggestions.

DA FTF like you described are almost always caused by an untightened main spring tension screw.

The trigger return spring has nothing to do with hammer striking force. It's main function is to provide sufficient trigger return pressure to prevent a failure to recover during the trigger DA cycle.

Thanks. The mainspring screw appears to be very tight with the screw head level with the frame. Should I attempt to tighten it even more and get the screw head below the frame surface?

One thing also if you are using 45acp used cases the "rim" will be thinner,
causing light strikes. Use AR or new 45acp case, or moon clips. I have owned several 25-2's and they all with do it.
