Default 5904 Breakdown Pin won't come out

Hello all, new here and a two week old owner of sweet 5904, LOVE it! BUT, I am trying to break it down to clean it up but the slide release pin will not push through. The pin on the right side is not completely round and looks like it has been clipped and rounded out. I don't know the back ground of this gun, but was wondering if it was an ex-service gun would the armory have changed the pin so no one would field strip the weapon and only the back shop can release the pin? If so, then what do I do? Hope this makes sense!

Thanks!

The slidestop has kinda a beveled edge on the tip. Makesure you have the slide in the proper location for the slidestop to pop out and then tap the end of the pin with a wood dowel, screwdriver handle or the like .Some are a little stiffer than others ,especially if it is gunked up or hasnt been taken apart alot. Might spray a little oil in first. The big thing is make sure you are holding the slide in the proper alignment. Bob

Thanks Bob, I watched a Youtube video of a breakdown and his came right apart. I have tried from the slide lock position and and all the way back and nothing seems to make it want to move. The gun shop down the road said to bring it in and they will have a look at it for me. The right side safety lever pin popped out as well and they are going reinsert it when they get it apart for me. Thanks for the suggestions!

Jay

You need to line the forward notch in the left side of the slide with the rounded forward end of the slide stop. From your description, I dont think you had the proper alignment, so the slide keeps the slide stop from moving to the left and out of the gun.

This should help...
