Default Model 59 Problem

I bought a nice 70s model 59 that the hammer follows the slide down about 50% of the time while handling. I havent shot it or have I taken it apart yet. Just wondering does anyone have an idea of what to look for?

Is the hammer falling all the way or stopping in half cock?

check the sear spring, ( flat spring 1/4" wide about 1" long and .015 thick )it should be straight and held tight to the frame with its retainer pin. also some sear springs were weak.
sear has two angles on the tip. rear angle may be too far forward.
worst case hammer notch may be bad.

A/the previous owner may have tried to perform a trigger job. The sear spring seems to be the most likely culprit if that's not the case.
