The result looks ........ ahhhhh ........ hmmmm ....... interesting. I thought this is what Field Barrels are for. To be fair I should mention that I'm an iron sight shooter and would appreciate another 1/4 pound added to a 5 1/2" barrel for bullseye. There aren't enough Field Barrels to go around, they've expensive and collectable so drilling and tapping one is questionable plus you already owned the bull barrel. The width of your modified barrel matches the sight better than a Field Barrel would. Also the absence of the barrel's rear extension makes it more convient to retract the slide and provides more clearance for ejection. Best of all, just switch barrels and you're back to an unmodified pistol. Your idea might catch on, but it makes me want to oil and admire my Field Barrel.
I hope it helps your scores.
Best Regards,
Gil
