Default 32 Barrel Interchangeability?

I currently own a .32 s&w new departure safety hammer-less. Would the barrel and cylinder from a .32s&w DA revolver interchange?

Thanks in advance

Assuming they both had the same style barrel latch, possibly. These early guns had a great deal of hand fitting, and clearances were very close in the barrel hinge.

Why, does the New Departure have a bad barrel? Even if it looks pretty rough, or has a bulge, generally they will still shoot as well as if they appear to be perfect.

Here's a link to my other thread,

My First S&W - Now With Pictures

I have a heavily pitted 32 new departure, i'm not too overly concerned with the firing of it, however i came across some DA parts online and figured If they were interchangeable I could swap them and take them into a professional smith for fine tuning if needed. Just looking for a cheap plinker out of this little s&w, and attempting at the same time to hedge against the worn parts inevitable failure.

this may just be a bit of crazy talking, but are Iver Johnson or H&R parts similar enough to interchange with slight modification? I ran across a large number of .32 parts that to the amateur (myself) having no knowledge of gun parts, look like they just might could work.

forgive me if that is just too absurd lol, I'm used to working on off-road rigs where almost anything is possible with a little bit of welding and BFH & persuasion bar.
