Default Question about Md-29 Rear sight

My buddy lost the whole rear sight assem. off his Mod. 29 - In looking for a replacement for him, I see there are different blades. I checked the S&W website and their parts list says to check the chart. Well I can't find the chart they say to check.
So my question is, Which size rear blade would he need for the 8 3/8th lenght barrel?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Default sight

did he lose the entire sight assembly or just the blade? the blade is availible from brownell's and the newer sight assembly with rounded front but if it is older with the square front , the assembly is not availible except here on this forum or e-bay, very hard to find. if it is just the blade the technition at brownell's can tell you which blade you need, but you will need the screw and nut also.

Wink Blade height

I have an old S&W parts manual and in the back is a rear sight assembly chart for revolvers. It says that a 8 3/8 inch model 29 should have a .160 height blade.
I hope that this helps.

Thanks guys, The .160 size is just what I needed to know. He did lose the whole assem. - How I don't know. He was at an outdoor range and by the time he went back it was nowhere to be found.
Actually Midway shows the whole assem. with this size blade in stock. Thanks again !!!
