Default Cylinder rubbing on forcing cone K frame

Got an old pre war K frame shooter . Any way cylinders rubbing on the end of the barrel / forcing cone . Is this excessive endshake ? Can't find my Kuhnhausen book . I seem to recall probable causes are bent extractor rod / yoke or excessive end play . Help me out here as I'm having a senior moment guys .

Wear on the yoke/yoke barrel can cause excessive end play and the issue you note. Don't worry about the extractor rod. A bent yoke barrel could cause the issue, but it's way down the list of probable causes.

This is what Power yoke bearings are for. The only reason for the cylinder dragging on the barrel breech is wear on the yoke barrel resulting in excessive end-shake.

if its only a slight rubbing, one can 'stretch ' the upper crane leg ever so slightly, set the cylinder back a bit, very common issue with lots of years on the gun...........any GOOD 'smith or armorer can do this in a very short time. we stay away from shims in any duty or self defense gun...............

It's an old beater M&P 38 . My late Father found it in the trunk of a car he put a mechanic's lien on after the owner left it . It's just a plinker . I thought it'd be fixable on the cheap . It's not something to sink a bunch of $$$'s in .
