Does anybody know where i can find a recoil spring for a model 59, i am having failure to load problem during the magazine cycle, i am using the same mags. and the same shells as i have always used and this problem just started, the only thing i have done to the gun is change the grips since the last time i used it. would changing the grips cause this kind if a problem? Thanks

Google up Wolff Springs. They should be able to take care of your needs. I don't see how changing grips would have anything to do with your problem.

You can get the springs from S&W, Brownells or Midway. The S&W 59 uses the same recoil spring in all 4" 9mm guns(59/39/659/5900,etc.). Stick with the stock rate unless you're loading very hot(plusP) or very light loads. I can't see the grips on a 59 causing your problems, but a dry and/or dirty gun, weak ammo could be a problem. Where I do see grips causing a problem sometimes is in third generation guns where they wrap around the backstrap and rub the hammer spring/strut.

If the problem started abruptly when the stocks were changed then, yes, that is most likely the problem. Check at the top of the stocks to be sure there is clearance with the slide. If they are dragging this is likely the problem.

A good cleaning and lubrication won't hurt anything though!.
