Default K Frame 32 S&W Long Conversion

Greetings,

My plan is to purchase a used Model 66 or 67 Stainless revolver as a starting point.

Next, I would consider purchasing a 617 or 648 cylinder assembly from Brownells.

I will machine the cylinder to 32 S&W Long. (I have the necessary tools and reamers.)

The question I have, is what dimensional issues would I run into? Such as, will the cylinder fit on to the existing crane assembly? The location of the hand and cylinder stop? Any other area I might be overlooking?

The barrel is not a concern as I have machined several K-Frame barrels in the past from Shilen and Douglas blanks.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Good luck with you're conversion. I took a model 17-3 to Andy Horvath 2 weeks ago to be converted to 32 long. Gave him a center fire hammer to use. Can't answer any questions but admire the fact you can do it your self. There was a post here abt being bored in the winter, he converted a model 19 to .22. Look for it and he may be able to help you. Just checked and its on the 3rd page of this section. Larry

I don't know the answers to your questions but if you find them and decide to do this project please post pics of it. Just seeing the steps involved would be VERY interesting. I'm sure everyone here would like to see your talents.

I did a similar thing with a model 15 a few years ago. Relined it to .32 and installed a 32H&R mag model 16 cylinder I found on line. K-frame 32 are just a pleasure, you will not be sorry for the effort.
