Extractor rod worked loose, how tight should it be?
The extractor rod on my 629 has become loose. Just how tight should I make it? Finger tight or clamp a vise grip on it and torque the heck out of it? somewhere in between? Is there a ft/lbs spec?
Inquiring minds want to know...
Thanks!

First, put empty cases in the chambers.
The rod should be tightened just beyond finger tight with either a special tool or padded pliers. A vise grip will mar it.
I don't know how you'd get a small transmission torque wrench on it, but I'd guess no more than 30 INCH pounds or so, about like what you'd torque a #10 machine screw.

If I remember correctly, Ron Power told me 55 in-lb....He set it up with the extractor pin in a vise and empty brass in 2 of the charge holes....he had welded a lathe tool blank to a socket to use on the end of the torque wrench between the brass....Lou
