Default 12-18 gauge?

I came across a gauge today for the S&W K frame it has a 12 on one end and an 18 on the other. I am having a problem remembering what the sides are used to measure. Anyone know?

Would this work on the L frames also?

I have not been to the armorers course in about 5 years so I have forgotten.

Default Go - No Go

Sounds like a head space gauge for S&W with a recessed cylinder to me
