.32-20 cylinder conversion?
I'll soon be receiving a .32-20 barreled K frame receiver without the cylinder. Has anyone tried using either a .38 Special or .357 Magnum cylinder with caliber convertion inserts?

Actually, the dimensions of a 32-20 is the same as the 38 Special. You could have the cylinder rebored, but why? 32 WCF is a fine shooting revolver the way it is.

The original poster asked if anyone had ever relined a .38 Special K frame cylinder to .32-20, not if anyone had ever bored out a .32-20 cylinder to .38 Special.

There isn't enough room to sleeve a .38 Spl. cylinder to .32-20. The usual procedure is to fit a K-22 cylinder and rechamber it.
Hamilton Bowen is making new K Frame cylinders for .32 H&R, .327 and .32-20.

I'm not sure yet what I'll do; either look for a parts gun or go the Hamilton Bowen route. The idea is for the revolver to go with my 1892 winchester (made in 1892).

I wanted a pistol for the same reason and decided to go the cheaper route of using a 1905 4th change Smith K-frame. Its a nice little pistol but due to chamber pressure limitations due to lack of hardened cylinder it doesn't quite perform to the limits the rifle is capable of. I wanted to work up a load to use in both rifle and pistol, the pistol needs a quite enemic loading to stay on the safe side. Going the route you have taken seems to be a much "safer" way to go. Also add to that the ability to have adjustable sights and it truly makes good sense, I'll look into that myself...
32-20 is an excellent cartridge...

The cylinder is $295.00, but then it needs to be chambered, headspaced, and the barrel/cylinder gap adjusted, which may mean removing the barrel and setting the shoulder back one complete turn if the gap is too wide. If not, then the rear of the barrel can be cut back and forcing cone re-cut.
Mr. Bowen installed a new cylinder chambered for .32-20 WCF on my Model 16-4. I am extremely happy with it.

The new cylinders that he is peddling...are the case heads recessed, just to ask?
I know that there is a company outside Lakeland FL that also makes revolver cylinders...but I don't know if they are only for single actions or for S&W's.
