Help with 29-2 refinish
I would like to get this 29-2 refinished in the blue that was common to these guns from this era. This one left the factory in 1965.

Is there serious damage to the nickel? As the saying goes, you only have the original finish once.
Perhaps trading it for a blue gun may be in order, or you can send it back to the factory:
Precision Gunsmithing - Smith & Wesson
They may not be able to duplicate a 1960s finish, but the ones I've seen were done very well.

I spoke with S&W customer service yesterday, and was told they they wouldn't do it. Can't remember the reason he gave me. He did give the name and number of someone who would, but the number was either not working or disconnected.
The nickel is freckling in places is the reason I want to do this.

Strange, they usually accept model stamped, steel framed guns without question. Perhaps it was the proposed change from nickel to blue, or did you ask about the option of a nickel refinish?

I didn't ask about a nickel refinish. Maybe I will do that Monday.

I think I would invest a couple of hours with an old tee shirt and some Flitz before I made a final decision on a refinish. You might be pleasantly surprised at how much better it looks.

Took your advice with the Flitz, but I used microfiber cloth instead of t-shirt. Don't need a refinish, the little blems that are still there I can live with. Thanks a bunch.
