Unhappy Help Please: jammed q tips in revolver barrel and cylinder

My 627 Pro has 3 q tips stuck in the 12 o' clock cylinder. I can see them. I was cleaning the barrel with q-tips. I forgot not to close the cylinder. They are stuck. I have tried lots of soft plastic to push from the rear of the cylinder were one one would load the rounds. Cannot get tweezers to open in the barrel to pull them out.

Help please.

Try spraying them with a little bit of solvent, that will help to break down the wood a bit, then I think you're going to have to force the cylinder open, I would do this by hand only. Just push the cylinder latch forward and then try to push the cylinder out by hand. That's the best idea I've got for you.

Could I burn them out without harming the finish? Maybe take the entire gun apart?

Yes. I have tried the method of pushing the cylinder out by hand. I do not want to bend the frame or yoke or anything else. I can only get it about a 3rd of the way out.

I thought of burning too, although it would not be as hot as released gas it would be sustained and I'm not sure what that would do. Maybe try pushing a .22 cal cleaning rod with a brass bristle in with the q-tips you would be able to wedge them out. Obviously you would want to keep control over this and not let it go all the way down the muzzle to where you can't reach it. If you think you can get the cylinder out by taking out the yoke screw I'd give that a shot too.

The 3 q tips are regular paper sized ones about 3". No wood or plastic.

Yeah, the sustained heat would set there in the barrel. Don't think it would hurt the stainless steel. I mean My barrel smokes when I shoot. 24 rounds in a minute anyway.

What solvent were you thinking of?

Not sure how to remove the cylinder because it will not fully come out far enough to fully remove the yoke screw. I already took out the ejector rod and spring.

Trying my brass cleaning rod...

WOW...

I got it out and all's well.

Twisting the copper wire rod clockwise with the threads and rods as not to unscrew it took the tiniest bits of fuzz out. Then I started cutting the rear of the q tips out with sharp finger nail scissors. Kept twisting that rod. Finally, I felt the cotton tight on the rod and copper brush pulled and they all came out.

Special thanks,

cornfed83 and ogilvyspecial

P.S. No matter how awesome a range day I had for 4 hours; never rush cleaning a gun.

I was going to suggest you use a three pound hammer.
But it sounds like you got it.

Glad you got everything to work out. I've seen guys do some pretty silly stuff while trying to clean their guns in the military. You shouldn't feel bad, you never know if something is going to work to clean your gun until you try it.
