Default Model 65 trigger pull

I just picked up a new (to me) 3" Model 65-2. The gun is in excellent shape except for a slight drag in the trigger pull on two cylinders. It can be felt on two adjacent cylinders near the end of the pull cycle just before it releases. It can also be felt when thumb cocking for single action. It is not bad, just a barely perceptible harder pull at the end of the cycle on those two adjacent cylinders. Looking down the barrel indicates that the barrel and all cylinders are in perfect alignment. There is about a .001 cylinder gap on all cylinders and there is a very slight gap between the yoke and the frame when looking at the front (see picture). Is this a slightly bent yoke or something else. It doesn't seem to affect anything and the gun shoots great.

Clean the cylinder ratchet and hand real good before you do anything else and see how that goes

I had already cleaned everything thoroughly by removing cylinder and sideplate. After my initial post, I took the gun to my shop and added a .002 endshake washer even though there was absolutely no endshake (I was concerned about the tight cylinder gap of .001). With the cylinder gap now at .003, the difference in trigger pull is imperceptible on all cylinders. I'm not sure I understand why, but it seems to be OK now.

Most likely the bearing surfaces where the yolk meets the inside of the cylinder. The shim is acting as a bearing and smoothing the action. Not what it was intended to do, but who cares?! Enjoy your new toy!

A B/C Gap of .001" is too small IMHO! With the slightest carbon or lead build-up, you will get dragging. Between .003" to.007" is optimal in my book.

If there was no endshake, then how did a .002 bearing fit?

les45... I have a 3" Model 65-3 with a slightly larger gap between the yoke and the frame. My 65-3 fires without shaving any lead and may be within S&W tolerance levels, but it's presently back at S&W waiting to have the gap issue corrected.
