S&W 4006 Wear Question

Hello,

I have a S&W 4006 with less than 100 rounds through the gun. Upon cleaning the pistol this evening, I noticed a small crack behind the slotted area underneath the slide as indicated in the pictures below. The metal thickness in that area is paper thin and I am not sure if it is normal for that area to have the thin metal area just peel off as normal break in wear or if I should send it back to Smith and Wesson for repair or possibly needing slide replacement if peeling is abnormal. Any answers with those having a 4006 or 3rd generation would be appreciated.

Update...I found an older post which I didn't find prior to posting. It is normal per S&W as result of "conflicting cuts".
