Cool LPI on standard revolver stocks

Does anyone know the lines-per-inch of the checkering on S&W standard stocks? I am interested in learning to do simple checkering in the template of the standard stocks. Also, to re-cut stocks that are being re-finished. Any info is appreciated.

Get a 6" flexible scale, lay it across the stock perpendicular to the grooves and count them! Depending on manufacturing period could range from 14-20 as I recall, they aren't all the same.

If you are recutting existing checkering it doesn't matter as this is done with a single point tool and it doesn't matter to the cutter as you are working on 12 LPI or 30 LPI. A spacer cutter is used only for layout on new work, and the lines cut to depth with a single point cutter.

I do a fair amount of pointing up of the checkering on stocks that are being repaired/refinished.
What works best here are the 90 degree short cutters from Gunline. I have one set up as a "push" tool and the other as a "pull". Use whichever runs the best depending on the grain of the wood.
