Are the OE S&W springs for the 4566 silver?

I purchased a used 4566 from a forum member a while back. He changed the recoil spring and hammer spring to reduced power units from Wolff which are a beep brown-bronze color. He did not note what weight was installed

Included were a silver recoil spring and hammer spring along with two more Wolff mainsprings 17 & 18 LB- also brown-bronze.

I put the silver springs in and it seems to stiffen the slide pull and hammer cocking force somewhat. If the factory springs are silver, then I'm sure that's what I installed. Was having light primer strikes and an occasional stove-pipe with the lighter springs.

Seriously- I really am asking if the original S&W springs for the 4566 are silver/stainless color.

The stock springs for the 4566 are not colored in any way. Usually the lighter hammer spring will give a lighter trigger pull, downside being too light causes misfires. Stovepipes usually are caused by too strong of a recoil spring or light loads. I've always had good luck with Wolffs' 18# hammer spring(stock 22#) and used the stock recoil spring unless I'm going hotter or lighter than standard production ammo.

I should've said "Are the stock springs bare steel/in the white".

One recoil spring and one hammer spring with the others received with the 4566 are in the white. I just installed those and need to go to the range for a test. Pretty sure the hammer spring I removed is a 16LB as the 17 & 18 LB ones are still in Wolff bags. I'll take the 18LB hammer spring and the other recoil spring to the range. Doesn't take long to change them on a 3rd Gen S&W.

The 4566, 4506, etc mainspring is the "long" mainspring. Same as the 39, 59, 5906, etc.
The 4516 uses the "short" mainspring like the 6906.
They are not avialable from S&W in varying weights, only the "long" or the "short".
The custom shop (performance center) might have some other choices.
If you go with a lighter spring, you'll find it's a huger improvement over the standard DA pull. I have never had any reliability issues with mine after cutting two coils off. (this brought the weight about on par with the Wolff 17 pound spring)
