I have a Md 439 I bought sometime back as a shooter. But now I want to try and get it back to looking original. The magazine release button on the left side of the frame is "bent in ward" but still works. I've tried various ways to unscrew it, but it won't budget. Does anyone know how this assembly comes apart and can a clod like me do it? Or do I have to cut the release from inside the frame and buy all new parts?

Also, anyone know where I can get some decent original wood grips for this thing with dual decocking levers? I used some old cracked grips from a Md 39 and had to cut out a part for the right lever. Looks uglier than me and I'd like to fix that too. I have a set of Pachmyers, but I really do not like them.

Just removed the magazine release button following the instructions in the thread you referred to me. It worked perfectly! You saved me $90 gunsmithing fee (1 hour minimum from the local shop). The button was stripped and I just ordered a replacement from Numrich. Unfortunately all they had was nickel, but maybe it will class up the gun a little.
