Default 32 mag spitting lead

Got a friend with a unique gun with a quirky problem. It's a 32 S&W long that has had a stainless bull barrel installed. We do not know who did the work

When fired, it spits lead.

it is out of time. I was thinking perhaps the hand was bent or tweaked somehow. From what little I have read online it could be a stretched hand.

The gun is in CT, we are looking for a gunsmith in that part of the country to send it to.

Thanks in advance.

Vic

Have you checked to see if it locks up just before the hammer falls?

You are on the right track having a gunsmith look at it, I'm sorry I have no gunsmith recommendations in CT. You could check some things out yourself but it helps to know what you're looking for. I would look for the easiest thing first, the forcing cone, if there is one, how it was cut and at what angle. Then I would drop a range rod down the barrel through each of the chambers, to see if they line up properly. The fix depends on what you find.

Good luck with that and let us know what you find out,
Steve

Pull the hammer back real slow. You should hear 2 clicks before the hammer cocks. The first click is the cyl stop hitting the cyl as it comes up and the 2nd click is the cyl stop going into place in the cyl notch. This should happen before the hammer cocks. If the cyl doesn't lock before the hammer cocks then the timing is off to that cyl hole. Do this 6 times, once for each hole. Re-try it if not sure. Larry

Finally got it worked out. Had a gunsmith get it back in time ($30)

Also found that the new barrel never had the forcing cone cut. Spent about $70 at Brownells to buy the tools and got it fixed right up.

Shoots great now.

Thanks for all the input
