Got a nickel plated 1917 and wanna have it cerakoted. But before that I'm looking to improve the sight picture. Is there anything I can do before it goes to get coated
I'm no expert, but without some significant alterations, I'm thinking perhaps color contrasting sights is about it.
If the gun shoots to your satisfaction now, the only thing I'd probably do is maybe check on installing a gold bead on the front sight but not much area for one if using standard front blade. Gold beads are a personal preference of mine.
Of course there are aftermarket rears that require mods that would help.
