Default Mustang Combats

Hey y'all,

I just got a pair of K/L sq. Mustang Combats from a member. Like all other finger grooves I've tried/held they don't comfortably fit my fat fingers. I decided to put my master gunsmithing and woodworking skills (joke) to work. From what I've read about Mustangs, they require a little sanding to fit just right, so I took a little off the backstrap area to match the contour of the revolver. I also took off the pinky groove and thinned out the profile of the pinky area to give it more room. The pinky was really squished before. Now it is real comfortable. Now to lightly sand the entire thing and put a nice oak stain on it.

I'm excited to grow my collection. I want to try these on a 14, 16 and a 5/686. Oh well, my 4" 64 will have to do for now.

I find the Mustangs to have all the ergonomics of a 2 X 4. That being said, there is plenty of wood there for the shooter to fit the grips to his hand, and if one does so carefully (as you have obviously done) you get a good set of grips for not too much money. It's a shame the company is no longer around to sell more grips.
