I have Model 36 that the cylinder is not locking to the right, it freely turns. My first thought is the cylinder stop as it does appear worn just a bit. However the question is could it be a combination of the stop and the spring being worn as well. Also when the trigger is pulled and the hammer is back it will not rotate. Thanks for all the help in advance.
Check the stop slots in the cylinder with a magnifier....they can get pretty dirty, to the point where the crud can interfere with the stop's upward movement and lock up. Also, Wolff makes an "extra power" cylinder stop spring that may help. Springs for SMITH & WESSON Revolvers
