Default Exchange bodyguard hammer

Can a Centennial (42,442) hammer be exchanged with a Bodyguard (38,49) hammer as a fast way to convert the Bodyguard to DAO? I've had good luck swapping out K frame hammers with the factory DAO ones. Thanks

What could possibly be the point to doing this?

Dept require DOA for back ups? OIF2 (forum member) has posts on having to "neuter" a Bodyguard to carry as a back up on LAPD.

I tried that on a S&W Model 637 several years ago. The Centennial hammer had to be cut down in order to work. Then, I found it would only hit part of the firing pin, because it was shorter than the original.

Why not get a replacement hammer and bob it?
