Default Wolff springs

I just bought recoil springs for my 4013 and 4006 and the new ones are quite a bit longer and stronger than the originals. I realize that they should be stronger but I don't remember the originals being this strong. I ordered that factory weight. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mike,

While I can't speak directly on the Wolff 4006 replacement springs, I can say that a number of Wolff's springs are a bit longer than even a fresh OEM spring. Some have more coils, but are not as thick. They have always operated as intended and lasted well.

I have found Wolff to be accurate, but certainly double check your package labeling and call them if they don't function.

Thanks.

I was going to order some from Smith but after being on hold several times for longer than 20 minutes I decided to order them from Wolff.

I am no metallurgist, but I do know that length alone does NOT determine the weight of a spring. Wire thickness and how the spring was formed play an important role in what the weight is.

I checked them again the next day after being installed and they have 'Shrunk" since I installed them and they should be fine. Included with the recoil spring was a new firing pin spring which I installed.
