Model 13-3 hammer swap question
Apologies for the basic inquiry, but I just purchased a shooter grade 13-3 with 3" barrel. I found a used -3 bobbed hammer that I'd like to swap in, but am wondering if I need anything else parts-wise to make the hammer swap compatible. I think a replacement -3 hammer should simply plug into a -3 revolver, but wanted to confirm with the expert 'smiths here.
Thanks in advance for any advice, info, etc.

Not an expert but have read there is a good chance the bobbed hammer may drop in and work fine. The double action sear is the deciding factor on proper operation. Personally I'd just change it out with the original hammer prior to installation. Held in by one pin and easily removed. Be careful as there is the spring underneath.
Look down on the gunsmithing page about 10 posts. A double action sear thread posted by boogsawaste. May contain some helpful info. Member 05carbon posted a page fron the Kunhunsen book with good info and illustrations. I also have his book. PM me if you need a paper copy.
I also purchased a bobbed DAO hammer for my 3" 65 but haven't installed it yet. I picked up a Factory bobbed SP101 snub just after getting the hammer and decided to put that in the carry rotation instead.
Regards

If you have a complete hammer assembly, I would put it in to see if it works before I changed anything between hammers. It might just work.

I would drop the whole assembly in first and see if you get lucky. If not, then swap out the sears. IF not, time for some skilled and knowledgable file work.

Thank you, gents. The alternative is to simply leave the existing hammer assembly and bob it. I'll get the -3 tomorrow and tear out the guts to see how things look. I'm going give everything a thorough cleaning, then install a new Wolff spring kit. The revolver has some miles on it, so I want to see if there's anything worn inside that needs to be replaced. The bobbed replacement hammer assembly is ~ $55, so that money could be spent on Dremel accessories and polishing blocks if I go the DIY route. Update to follow.

"The bobbed replacement hammer assembly is ~ $55..."
If that is a factory bobbed hammer, not too bad.
For a home bobbed hammer, too high IMHO.

One of these was done at the factory, the other one I did myself.
The one on the right is my work. I think it looks better, but that's just me.
