Default Rockwell hardness

Any of you old smiths have the Rockwell hardness of a case hammer and trigger in your notes? I know, who cares? I do, I have a bet going. Mike 2796

If you are talking about parts that are 'case hardened' then there is no Rockwell test or rating for anything surfaced hardened. That is because Rockwell measures by dimpling the into the metal a couple of thousanths with a super hard point and will read the soft material underneath the CH and give a low rating. Rockwell is mostly used for parts that have been hardened and tempered throughout the entire part.
