The barrel won't come out. Is there a trick to it ?

It's been a while, but here goes the short version.
Forearm nut: Off
Forearm: Off
Bolt: Open
Barrel: pull forward, wiggle until loose, pull again. if it doesn't come out cuss it a lil', usually works for me.

I'll check with my brother since he has one. as soon as I find out I'll forward the info. Just curious, does your 1000 run ok? I know some folks, including my brother had problems with them functioning with anything but a heavy or hi-vel load.

That's pretty much it. I'd guess there is carbon build up at the barrel ring and/or barrel extension to receiver mating surfaces that is binding things up.

In case you don't have the factory manual:
1000_SERIES_MANUAL_0407.pdf
Then there is:
dismantle S&W 1000
although he just slides that barrel right off
