Default 10 shot .22LR snubby

I remember seeing a post with pictures about one of these, so I know it has been done before. I've been searching for the last few days, but I can't find it.....

What parts/pieces/labor does it take to put one of these together? I think I want one.

You would have to make it on a K Frame. Custom work depending on what all you had done could range form a couple hundred to well up into 4 figures. Cheapest way would be to buy a 10 shot Mod 617 and have the barrel cut back. I'd hate to spend around $800 for a 617, then have the barrel cut back for another couple hundred.

Besides the 617, what other 10 shot models did S&W make?

If splitting hairs, there was the later model 17 but its only a non-SS 617.
The next closest I can think of is the 8 shot J frame models.

A 43C (8 shot) is on my short list.

So, the model 17 is a blued 10 shot? I'll keep my eyes open for one of those too then.

Who is the member that made his own 10 shot snubby? I remember him posting pics, but I can't find it again to save my life.

You could get any model 17 (or K22 Masterpiece), and easily install a 10 round 617 cylinder. Shortening the barrel would be beyond my skill level.

The hand and the cylinder stop and the entire timing and racheting system doesn't need to be altered?

I'm thinking that the simplest and most direct way to do it would be to have a 10-shot 617 barrel cut to the desired length. It would definitely require a skilled gunsmith to do it right. The newer 617s already have a round butt, so that part is good, just get the right/appropriate grips, a nice (possibly custom although there might be some production ones that would work) holster, and you're good-to-go.

One of the nicest revolvers S&W ever produced was their 13/65 models. K frame, RB, .357, 3". Issued to the FBI years ago and they carried it with 38 +P lead semi-wad HP's. I'd love to obtain one. One in a 10 shot .22 version would be pretty cool.
