4506-1 Trigger play spring
Not sure what happened but it is broken on my pistol.
Any idea where I could get one? How critical is this to function of the gun?
Also does anyone know how the spring is secured? it looks like a rivet of some sort? Maybe this is a job for an actual gunsmith
Thank you

The little copper colored flat piece?? It controls the "slop" in the trigger. Used to be able to get it from SW or have them replace it, Not sure anymore, I do believe the gun will function OK without it.
On one of mine I "tuned" it a little by bending it with a little push with a pencil eraser end. I believe they break from over doing that and or dry firing a lot.
Have not looked ay one for a long time so not sure if you can replace it yourself?
This little gem? Sold out here.

You might try Smith & Wesson Customer Service. Have your model number and serial number ready when you call. If they don't have one, they may be able to direct you to a supplier.
S&W # is 1-800-331-0852.
You can also call Jack First ..... Jack First Gunshop - First in Gun Parts - Rapid City, South Dakota
If you can't find one anywhere, let me know, I'll send you one.

Many Thanks
Much appreciated. I will make some calls in the morning.
Do you know how hard/easy it is to change the broken spring?
Thanks again

Not a horribly complicated repair. Iinvolves disassembly of the frame, removal of the drawbar and the removal of the old rivet and damaged spring. New spring and rivet are then secured in place on the drawbar. New rivet is peened in place on the underside of the drawbar by swaging. (carefully spreading the end of the new pin)
