Do you mean the checkering on a Model 27 frame? Unless it has been badly damaged anyone fairly handy with files should be able to "touch it up." Brownells sells checkering files. You'll have to use a thread pitch gage or do some careful measuring to determine LPI. It seems to me I checked it once and it was 40 LPI but don't take my word for it. You would also need some single-line files in the correct angle. Metal checkering files are different from wood checkering files, of course. If you don't want to try it, I'd bet any .45 pistolsmith who checkers the front strap of 1911s could fix you right up.
