Default Master Revolver Action Package

I have a 642 no lock version bought two years ago.

The trigger was so heavy -- heavier than any other J frame I've tried -- that the gun has sat in the safe and seen no use other than a few range trips.

I noticed the "Master Revolver Action Package" on the S&W site.

Has anyone had this work done? Would it likely help in the case of my gun?

I had the combat revolver package done to a 686. It came back with a very smooth action/trigger and was extremely accurate. I am very glad I had it done.

Just got this one back from S&W. Beautiful work. DA is not too light; no endshake and it carries up perfectly.

Apex makes a kit to fix that problem. It brought the trigger pull on my 642 down to a reasonable 8 pound pull. No issues.

I sent my 29-4 in for the Master Revolver Action package a half dozen years ago. It was well worth the money, Its probably my favorite revolver now.

My 686+ came back beautiful, both SA and DA. My 69, not so much. The 686+ was up there 5 months, the 69 three weeks. If you sold the 642 and bought another small revolver you would lose more than the cost of the package. I'd say go for it.

I doubt that S&W will do much to lighten the trigger pull rather than smooth the feel of the trigger pull.

Gun manufacturers tend to shy away from lightening trigger pull unless they were way out of spec from the factory.

If you want what think you are looking for, you may want to have your action work done by a reputable gunsmith. Note I said reputable.
