Default S&W 25-5 shaving lead

Hello all- my 45 colt 25-5 seems to spit lead occaisionally and makes shooting this delightful gun less delightful.
Is this common on these due to big lead bullets?
jacketed ammo is hard to find in 45 colt.
does factory still time these guns?
