Hand Torsion Spring for old K-Frame ...
Hey, everyone - I have an old K-Frame .22 revolver (Model 18 - Combat Masterpiece). I had an issue with the revolver and took it to a gun smith. The gun smith states that I need a new "Hand Torsion Spring." However, he was unable to locate the piece I need. He states the "old" part number was 5118 and the "new" part number is not "7040." The problem is that the new part is around 450 thousands of an inch and the "old" part was longer ... approximately around 650 thousands of an inch. The gunsmith said that he cannot use the new Hand Torsion Spring as it's too short. I've checked ebay, no luck. I called smith and wesson today, and again no luck. Does anyone have any other suggestions (or maybe a few laying around they want to sell)?
Thanks for taking the time to read and consider suggestions!

I've got one I can send you.
You can PM me with your address if you are unable to find one at the usual places....Brownells, Midway, Numrich, Jack First, etc.
The other option would be to buy a used, forged trigger, and remove the hand torsion spring form it. (Ebay)

Try Numerich: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/310710.htm
Not sure on the size, you may be able to call and get the length measurement. Good luck.

Hey, all - I appreciate everyone's feedback. The gunsmith stated that he ordered the ones found on line, but these are the "new" springs and are shorter than what was on the older models. My K frame had an older spring that was longer than what is being sold now. The gunsmith stated, "there is probably someone out there that has a box full of these old springs, but I just can't find them online through the usual sites."

Jack First Gun Parts in Rapid City SD is usually very good with these older parts. I'd give him a buzz this morning unless you have already found one from somewhere else.

Thank you all for your help! I contacted Jack First Gun Parts today. They said they have the part. While they said they do no have the original "old" spring, they now make their that matches the length specs. I guess I'm not the only one that had been looking for this part! Again ... thanks.
