Unless there is a feeding issue caused by a defect, never.

^^^^^^^^^^

Unless necessary as part of a mechanical repair, absolutely never! What do you expect to accomplish?

IF there is any malfunction loading ammo, then polishing might help if the feed ramp is rough or still shows signs of machining. If that's the case, then one time is enough to smooth out the machining marks and then all it needs is a wipe down with the cleaner of your choice. Anything more than that is just producing unnecessary wear.

Once is really all it needs, if it needs it.

If I do at all, I use Mother's and a cotton cloth and polish it by hand. Like others have said, only if it's needed.

NOTE:

Just by shooting and cleaning - the feed ramp will automatically be "polished". There's an old saying that is always true.....

"if it ain't broke - don't fix it"
